Is this REALLY REALITY ????

I have truly had it up to here with reality TV.  We have shows that teach us to SURVIVE.  We have shows to show us how to seduce BACHELORS & BACHELORETTES.  Need I forget those gripping stories of how you can become a  BIG LOSER.  Is this what entertainment has sunk to.  What ever happened to the weekly drama.  Oh yea, they found something that worked and cloned them and moved them to different cities, i.e. CSI New York, NCIS Las Angeles, Law & Order (too many to name).  And now if you tune to certain cable channels you get to enjoy marathons of all the shows listed above.

There are a few shining stars out there, but it seems that they are staying off the Networks.  Why is this?  There are great shows like Ray Romano's show Men of a certain age, the highly acclaimed Mad Men, Sons of Anarchy, just to name a few.  BUT the kicker is none of these shows are on major networks.   It is apparent that Network executives are more interested in showing outraged chef's, and overweight manic depressives than employing their writing to staff to actually CREATE something entertaining.

Memorial Day

I write this blog to express my thoughts on the entertainment of the day.  With the Memorial Day weekend upon us, I thought it appropriate to include the clip of Toby Keith's American Soldier.  This song touches me every time I hear it.  During this holiday weekend, please remember our American Soldiers.

Scotty Wins!!!!!

Big Surprise, Scotty wins the Season 10 American Idol.  When it comes to this point is is all about popularity and who the "little People" are casting votes for.  I liked Scotty and Lauren.  It really did not make a difference to me this year who actually won.  I think both kids are very talented, and will do well on the country charts.  What was disappointing this year was there was no "Ah Ha" moment in the finale.  Both singer are both consistent and predictable.  They both had strong performances all year. The thing is, you always knew what you were going to get.  Just a bit anti-climactic.

And tell me honestly, what does Jennifer Lopez see in Marc Anthony ???  REALLY ???

Finale week

My 3 favorite shows will be wrapping up this week.  My predictions for Dancing with The Stars.  Hines will take home the mirror ball, squeaking out Chelsea and Kirstie.  Scotty will win the American Idol title.  The team from Glee will NOT win Nationals.  Now the question is what will I be watching the rest of the summer?

The Real Housewives of Wherever

These shows are REALLY getting on my nerves.  I have been drawn into them, kicking and screaming.  Are these ladies for real?  I can only hope that they are truly putting on an act for the cameras.  Being from the South, I cannot imagine being attracted to ANY of these women.  They are all so superficial, and so obnoxious.  My wife is addicted to all of the shows, and the Andy Cohen show.  It is all more than I can stomach.  When these shows are on, which seem to be all the time, it is my cue to go to bed.  Please ladies, grow up!  And if another character on these show puts out another "SONG", I think I will throw up.

Dancing with the Stars - semi finals - Good Bye Ralph

Ralph has lost his appeal.  After last week's injury, and poor scores, I think that Ralph will be heading home tonight.  The big decision will be if the winner will be Hines or Chelsea.  I personally think Chelsea should win, but Hines has a "winning attitude".  Both are crowd pleasers.  Kirsty has just been fun to watch, but has no chance of winning.  Karate Kid leaves tonight.

American Idol Final 3

OK, I am brand new to the Blogger world, and when deciding what my first post would be, I decided on the American Idol Top 3.  What a disappointment to lose James last week.  He added that Adam Lambert factor.  You never knew what he was going to sing, but it was always interesting.  I may not have loved it, but it was interesting.  The 3 left standing are too predictable.  I am picking Scotty to win, just because I think he has the fan base.  It is at this point that the winner will be decided.  If Lauren goes then Scotty is a shoe in because he will get all of the country votes, likewise if Scotty goes then Lauren gets the nod.  I don't think that Haley has a strong enough fan base to win it all.  I really thought she would have been gone weeks ago.  This week's contestant going home is HALEY.
